In the spirit of celebrating Kenyan Music, I have to commence with the salutation Wamlambez hoping you will respond accordingly, if not in person but at least it rings in your thoughts. Kwa Hivyo, Wamlambez
Thank you, moving on. We recognize that 2019 has been a remarkable and transformative year for the Kenyan entertainment scene. For sure, and many industry players will agree with me that, 2019 has to go down in history as a landmark year for Kenya's vibrant entertainment industry and especially for the music sector. Without a doubt, the music creative sector has been at the center of the rise of the industry with many artists new, old and the usual alike making big moves in and across the continent. The bar, in terms of quality of production, lyrical prowess and engagement between the artist and audiences, has been raised substantially. Some content may remain to be controversial in terms of morality and arguments of moral decay but in limited spaces can be argued to be relevant if not reflective of the social undertones that we keep denying. However, that is chit chat for another day and perhaps a different forum.
Most notably we must not fail to speak of the wave of #Gengetune ama ukipenda the fast-paced #GengeTone genre that has arguably stamped a mark of identity on what exactly Kenyan music is mostly (not all but mostly) about. The industry has experienced a lot of new talented entrants and crafty rise of, what was in the past referred to as, underground music making it to the mainstream na wanavuruga kuvuruga (translation: and taking the mainstream by storm). As it turns out audiences are resonating with this music more than anyone would have thought. Also, there have been surprising stories that go beyond talent to inspire each and every one of us to reinforce the strong Lupita Mantra "Your Dreams are Valid."
Music has once again stemmed out to rise above differences and to unite us in a common language, feeling and expression of our way of life as a society and as a nation. Despite the tough economic times, and the unfortunate disheartening stories of our lives (from the sale of contaminated meat to the toxins in maize flour etc) Play Ke Music has been there for each one of us.
This year we have had the chance to enjoy nearly all kinds of music developed by various Kenyan artists. From Trap (ama ukipenda "Shrap) to authentic fusions of Benga style with postmodernism. It is for this and many more reasons that we have sampled up 100 of what we believe to be the best of Kenyan Music Released in 2019. Ladies and Gentlemen without much to add and on behalf of the KoraBlend Team I give you #2019KoraBlendTop100 Play KE Music. Enjoy!!! (Go to List Skip notes on individual music)

From the onset of the year, we've anticipated much growth in the Kenyan Music sector and projected different angles from different artist some of which have come to life while others have fallen short. All in all, we recognize that there is a lot that goes into making great music and beyond the financial cost, there is the inspiration behind one's music and the stories that an artist hopes to convey to his audience. Great music connects the artist to his audience and allows them to relate in a special way and this has been our founding principle with which we anchor ourselves as KoraBlend. Therefore, great music tells the best stories allowing us to relate to the moment or remind us of the good and bad moments that we've experienced in the past.
Since the beginning of the year, Kaligraph Jones has been the man to watch, having delighted us with the Year of the O.G (2018) and hypnotizing us with the slogan #RespectTheOG #TheOGMustBeRespected. Indeed, Kaligraph has shown that beyond the passion for music and the desire to rise to the top, hard work and Diligence remain at the center of His Success. Towards the end of January He enlisted Nigeria's famed musician and Rapper #YCEE to cook up, in true #OGstyle the hit song #Gwala which to date has proven that it is not just a song for the moment but a hit for the generation. Earlier on in February, he followed through with the controversial Cheating Rap onBeat it. Thereafter there came the Kovu Challenge Rap that took things to another level. Masauti has for a long time given us mixed feelings as to whether to flow with his vibe or not but if 2019: The year in Masauti Music is anything to go by, he has affirmed to not just his fans but to the world that weuh! He is here to raise the bar. His hit single Kiboko which he later enlisted Kaligraph Jones for a Remix has formed a never-ending sensation for us.

Masuti has without a doubt cemented a
place for himself on the Kenya Music scene. And we just love the way he pairs his artistic prowess and lyrical genius to give us the real deal. Just think about his work when he partnered with fast-rising songstress Nadia Mukami give us the hot hit single "Lola."
Speaking of Nadia Mukami, Wadau Tuzidi, Hebu mje hapa kwanza tuongee (translated: Guys lets have a side bar) Nadia has just brought a new wave altogether. Her music has deep lyrical connotations and her voice just gives you that bright feeling and lights up your mood ama namna gani... Going through 2019 The Year in Nadia Mukami's Music you must agree with us that she has not released much in the way of music this year but the 2 to 3 songs that he has blessed us with go a long way to show that it's not about the quantity of content but the quality therein. Love her or love her (because you can only hate her if you hate yourself) she has given us music for the soul and in debunking her lyrical prowess you can't help but wonder what did we do to deserve such a darling songstress.
The Music scene has not been without controversy, from the transformation of Kenya's Gospel star Willy Paul into secular officially. Far from the controversy Willy Paul has been in a few tussle over other artist stealing his music concepts and viceversa but even so, he has churned out a number of songs that are without a doubt tunes of the year. It cannot escape us that he has made significant strides in the industry with the unveiling of his new record label Saldido Records. One notable contribution to our playlist this year is Hallelujah a revered banger in which he enlisted Tanzania's sensation Nandy and together deliver a performance of the year. In addition, he has had a controversial 2019 over the choice of his content given he was once a respected Gospel artist. Nevertheless, he has shown that even in transition he can still match up the competition on the other side to raise the bar with an overwhelming number of hits for 2019. Ont the other hand this year saw Arrow Bwoy traverse the world of music to enlist a collaboration with Jamaica's and a global leading reggae artist Dermaco in which case they gave us the club banging tune "Love Doctor." Arrow Bwoy has always had a unique touch and feels with his music they get us up on our feet dancing and still give us that romantic vibe, a carefree love feeling. When he launched his Album "Hatua" back in august 23rd, he gave us a collection of something special easily put as an album that had almost a little bit of something for everyone.
Magix Enga finally got to launching his own record label and from the onset, he has been churning out tune after tune collaborating with different artists established and upcoming to create a wave that has almost been magical all through. His most notable collaborations of the year include his work with hip-hop's finest Kaligraph Jones, Zzero Sufuri, Gengetone sensation Boondocks gang and many more. Speaking of Gengetune and the pandora box unleashed into the Musci industry by Ethics in May 2018 when they released their first single "Lamba Lolo," it has in the recent months changed the game in the industry quite extensively. Ideally, they really just opened the door for the rest of gengetone/gengetune artist to step into the scene. Since then the rise of gengetune/gengetone artists has been remarkable. From individual talents such as Fat Boy Gwash: 2019 The Year in Fat Boy Gwash Music. To a host of groups such as Boondocks Gang, Sailors and so many more.
The Kansoul on the other hand never get stale everything about them is clearly the life of the party. They bring crazy life and action to every beat they get a hold-off and this year they teamed up with Gengetune artists, King Kaka, Magix Enga, Dufla Diligon, and songstress Vivian to deliver a lineup of h
